Leonid Chernovetskiy remains active with the charity – this time in Georgia

Leonid Chernovetskiy, the ex-mayor of Kiev and a very prominent philanthropist and businessman founded his first orphanage, which was on par with those in Europe, in the Republic of Georgia. He also took custody of 35 children, to whom he pays a monthly allowance of $100 dollars each as well as providing them with the necessary food, medications, equipment, clothes textbooks, and kindergarten expenses.

He also retains custody of 270 patients who are immobile and are bound to their bed as well as lonely, elderly citizens living below the poverty line and require his sustenance to survive. His staff consists of 20 very qualified nurses and their assistants, who provide free medical care, medication and food to these types of people every day.

During the first few days of the orphanage was up and running, it was visited by the directors of Georgian and Italian charity organizations. They were impressed by the Fund’s magnitude and accomplishments in organizing the aid to children as well as to those requiring daily care.

In addition, the Foundation gained acceptance by the government and the church: on May 21st the Foundation and the Social Agency of the Ministry of Health signed two memorandums on large family assistance and home-based care. On March 7, 2013 the home-based care team of Social Partnership met with Ilia II, His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan bishop of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia. The Patriarch blessed each member of the team and highlighted the complexity and importance of their work, asking them to further their vital cause helping the needy people of Georgia.

Leonid Chernovetskiy plans to establish a large institution in Georgia which would resemble the Ukrainian Social Partnership foundation to provide care to homeless, including children, and to promote philanthropy amongst the Georgians.
