THE BOOK "THE CRAZY STORY"
(2017)

Book description
For many years, I’ve been nursing the idea of writing an autobiographic book: after all, my life has been difficult, instructive for thinking people, and full of different events! I lacked time to stop and sum everything up and sort everything out, but I’ve never given up on it! And now the time has finally come, and I’m glad that my dream has come true!

Selected Quotes

Memories of the best things in your life should not be destroyed by reality! Reader, they should live in your mind in parallel and warm your soul in the most difficult moments!
Reader, only those people are lucky in their life who are worthy of it: those who work hard and have at least minimal ability…
Work, love, bring up your children, and God will determine Himself what happens next, He knows why and what for, no one else knows that!!! Such things happen in life! Reader, do not make any predictions for your life. This is my important advice to you. God works in mysterious ways. It’s true.
That’s why, dear reader, no matter how hard the times are, pay attention to your children, especially when they are 13-18 years old, do not leave them out of sight for a second. There are loads of temptations everywhere, and almost all of them may lead to the loss of your loved one—your own child!
Dreams often come true, but expectations don’t, and never expect from your children the same things you have given to them!!! In most cases, children will never appreciate what you have done for them and will never understand you!
And remember, dear reader! If you need to solve some important problems— turn to those people who can solve them and help you do it, no matter their rank or position…
Once, one friend of mine, who had established himself as a businessman, told me that it’s only difficult to earn your first million; after that, dozens of them rain down on you! And I can only confirm this! And this is the second most valuable advice I want to give you, dear reader! Would you like to start a business? Thoroughly study the matter. Read business publications and use your computer frequently. Your first million is hidden there!
Remember, dear reader, bear it in mind and remind yourself every day: you can’t rest on the laurels of what you have achieved. Only growing constantly and perfecting one’s skills one can stay successful; otherwise, competition will catch up with you very quickly and destroy everything you’ve created!
So good luck to you, dear reader, in your good deeds, and remember: no matter how much you pray, if you don’t supplement your prayer with helping your neighbour, it will never be heard by God! If you do good, not to a relative, but to a stranger, you will be saved forever! All your sins will be forgiven because the good will save the world. We were born and came to this sinful Earth to do good! There is and there will be nothing more important in life than this!

Vera

I read the first part of the book, and it is interesting to read about the life of a man for a couple of days) what a success story!) In Soviet times, to leave the factory to live to the fullest... only a brave person could do so... Few can do that nowadays) and, yes, it turned out all right!) So, the dreams indeed come true?!)

Thanks for your revelations, Vera!

Sergei

I read the book, as they say, in one sitting. I liked everything. Interesting. Your purposeful transition from a domestic life has caused special respect. It is also nice that you do not forget and help homeless people. Thank you for the book!

And thank you, Sergei!

Vladimir

I have read your book. It is very easy to read, as it leaves a good impression. You know, it seemed to me that in some way, you wrote it as a form of repentance. I do not know if you blame yourself for something. Maybe this is your way of cleaning your act. In life, everything is a little different than in the book though. We need a film about someone who pushed their way from the bottom, about those who died in prisons for nothing, about the dark side! And then about a person who helped many people and continues to help, who spends a lot of money to help them. When it becomes apparent in the end that all this is about the same person, everyone will be blown away! That would be cool! I would even play the main role fee of charge, just for the sake of it. In general, thanks for the book, it’s cool, good job!

Natalia

Good evening, dear Leonid Mykhailovych, My name is Natalia, and I'm from Odesa. I've read your book and it got me in a state of amazing inspiration. Long have I dreamed of meeting you in person. I own a business in Odesa. It is developing quite well. But I am willing to try something new. Maybe, you are in need of people to implement a certain idea abroad or in the territory of Ukraine. I would be happy to be a part of your team. I know English, this year I will graduate two universities to get master's degrees in both. I have been holding a management position for more than five years now. I'll be happy to participate in a worthy project. I look forward to your reply. Good luck! Best regards!

THANK YOU, NATALIA, FOR READING THE BOOK. I HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU IN YOUR LIFE! I WILL KEEP YOU IN MIND IF I HAVE ANY NEW BUSINESS DIRECTIONS! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

In general, I can say that I discovered your book by accident. At first, I was interested in your personality. I have always been far from politics because I know how messy it is. However, I have always been a proponent of individual approach too. In your book, you have perfectly described all the Ukrainian politicians. Therefore, there is no need to explain why I never liked it. And suddenly, on my forum, I read from people (who I completely believe) some good things about you with the proviso that you do it regularly but do not advertise it. It was just about lunches for homeless people. From my own experience, I know that without PR such things can be done by an exceptionally good person (I have several higher educations, one of which is psychological, plus vast experience of working with people of different types). And I became interested—had such a person ever been a part of the Ukrainian elite? I found you on Facebook, just in time to read the post about your book. So, recently, I needed to unwind a little—my term exams ended, I had to bury a person close to me, and a bunch of other difficulties came, from which I wanted to return to reality. Funny, but it was at the moment of reading your book, on the spot about the old cemetery destruction, and then about the fact that Jewish names are usually associated with the names of cities, I was on the lake in Kiev, which just appeared on the site of the destroyed old Jewish cemetery, where gravestones are still chaotically scattered far from everyone. And even took a picture of the well-preserved tombstone dated 1933 of a student Ochakovskii—I believe it comes from the name of the city Ochakov in Odessa region. I am very glad that I read the book. In many discourses, I recognized myself. And even at the age of 27, I managed to scale a similar path. True, the events in Ukraine took a heavy toll on me. Just as the never-before-known success and rapid growth came, there was a coup, relations with neighbours deteriorated, and the economy collapsed. From a young and promising businessman, I turned into an ordinary person, but I began to strive for knowledge—this is the baggage that is always in price—now I get a psychological education (before that—the Physics and Technology Department of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute and the Faculty of Law of the Crimean Federal University in the Crimea), and, I am sick and tired of finishing off my thesis in physics. I agree with almost everything written in the book. The only thing that caused real questions—why is there such a hell in the post-Soviet space? Why has such a mentality developed there? As a psychologist, I partly understand this mechanism but I cannot give a clear explanation yet. And it even became interesting to write a scientific paper on this topic on social psychology next year to understand exactly why and what to do about it. I always analyse all the information on my own and take it completely critically to all external sources. Thus, I think I can achieve objectivity in the analysis of all the factors. And although my path was cut at the very beginning of success, your book convinced me that I just need to start it over again. I am not old at all, I have a huge amount of knowledge and experience for my age, as well as analytical mindset, never-disconnected brain (which all my friends and acquaintances have noticed), an excellent physical form, and a pile of acquaintances in all spheres. With such a luggage, on this foundation, you can build your worthy “heritage” even in a completely destroyed state. I also used to do charity before, and today I help people if possible since in the past 3 years the opportunities have fallen by about 100 times. And I do understand your reasoning. Good should be done just like that. It is just important for you. You are human as long as you do it. And as soon as a person begins to be sold for hard currency and live only for the sake of hoarding, how can he/she be called a human being? It is very good that there are people who have not been spoilt by money and who are given great opportunities to dispose of them for the sake of the greatest good. I highly recommend the book to people who think and analyse, as well as to those who lose faith in themselves and society. Thank you very much for everything!

Unfortunately, I do not know your name and would be glad to write to you personally! You are a thinking person and, certainly, you have a great potential! You correctly understood me in everything except one thing, which I did not have time to describe in the book, but I hope, it will give you the strength to go only forward. I mean the fact that during crisis periods, people who can learn from other people’s mistakes can earn much more than during the period of the “economic lull”! So good luck to you in everything! And the fact that you help people free of charge gives me the feeling of spiritual kinship...

Liudmila

Leonid Mikhailovich, thank you, while reading only the first sentence, I realized that I want to read the entire book. You are a person from whom the younger generation needs to take an example!

Liudmila, thank you very much for your warm words, it will be a great honour to me if my book helps the young generation to find the right way of life leading to success!

Robi

May God keep you safe, Leonid. Your work is very interesting and touching. It even made me shed a tear, namely when I reached the chapter on your parents. You are a happy person, and God will help you! Your photo with Gavriil is amazing by the way. Like you, I have gone through certain moments, and my work, just like yours, was never appreciated. I am now left without my beloved parents as I have lost my mother a few months ago. You and I are almost the same age, and I'm very glad that you can show love like that. I have been working for a man and helped him with my money, but he used it for an unworthy purpose. So I decided to help children and the elderly by myself, withdrew some money from the bank account, bought some food and just handed them out. I am a director and illusionist by trade. I put on shows, helped the poor, and taped that, but even that was tampered with by those who “lease” children for begging. I dropped it and was left completely alone, with no friends. Now I have decided to make a movie and wanted to meet you to implement some ideas, but later decided to go on by myself. I don't really know why. I wish you every success, may God keep you safe. People love you, especially here in Kutaisi. Thank you very much for the book, it will help me change a lot of things in my life. Stay safe! Best regards, Robi.

DEAR ROBI! I AM GLAD THE BOOK HELPED YOU RECONSIDER A LOT IN YOUR LIFE. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU FOUND TIME AND VISIT OUR FUND INSTEAD OF STAYING ALONE WITH YOUR THOUGHTS. YOU WILL FIND FRIENDS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR GOOD DEEDS THERE! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Baka

Good afternoon, Mr. Leonid. I’d like to share some feedback regarding your book. It is interesting and easy to read—I completed it in one sitting. What I liked most of all is that the ideas you share with your readers always have a kernel of truth! As for me, I changed a lot of my opinions and looked at many things from a different perspective. While reading your book, I could see that you and I have a lot in common, and it makes me very happy. I’ve decided to scale the heights and become a successful businessman too. While reading your book, I jotted down down all your pieces of advice into my business advice notebook. I believe that when a person wants to succeed in some field, listening to the people who have come far on their path is a great start. I decided to become a businessman not because I want to earn much money and be recognized. No! I am aware of the purpose of money. Money is a necessary tool which makes us independent in this life. Money can buy us neither love nor respect, a person must earn it by his or her character. And I want to become a successful person and a businessman because I like doing this. To do so one should have a different vision, different way of thinking, constantly seeking ways of improving one’s business, negotiating successfully... And therefore, one should think and act—everyone has this holy gift... Your book is a vivid example that every person should think, because the more you think, the more you achieve… In conclusion, I want to say that you are a happy person—from your book we can see you had a wonderful wife Alina. And she played an important role in your success. She believed you and believed in you—and this is always a powerful stimulus! Georgians have a saying “If the wife does not fit in the family, no matter how strong her husband is, his life will always be unsuccessful…”

You understand the philosophy of business, Baka! May you fully realize your goals!

Press about the book

The Crazy Story in quotes: “If you are poor, it means it was given to you by God”

The ex-mayor of Kyiv opens up in his book about how he achieved success in business and assures that he’s never cooperated with the authorities or criminals.

Leonid Chernovetsky: it’s only difficult to earn your first million

The former investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office Chernovetsky had already established himself as a big businessman before becoming the mayor of Kyiv. Besides, the sale of his Pravex-bank to Italian group Intesa Sanpaolo for $750 million became one of the most successful deals in the Ukrainian financial sector in the mid-2000s. The Crazy Story was published through Chernovetsky’s personal website in spring.

Leonid Chernovetsky publishes The Crazy Story

The ex-mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetsky, who now lives in Georgia, published a new book The Crazy Story. According to the author, this book is about victories and disappointments, about being betrayed by close people, about poor and neglected childhood. A story about “an ordinary urchin” who became a successful banker and politician.

Chernovetsky’s crazy bestseller

Interestingly, The Crazy Story is not the first opus of Leonid Mykhailovych. Prior to that, he published The Confession of the Mayor in 2008, How to Become a Millionaire and The Story of Success in 2009. The previous books sounded too official, whereas The Crazy Story looks like a confession rather than memoirs with such a title. It seems the ex-mayor of Kyiv wrote the book himself, or with some minimal help, and, no doubt, from the bottom of his heart.

“Never refuse money”. 20 quotes from a new book by Leonid Chernovetsky

The ex-mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetsky published his book The Crazy Story. In the book, he tells the story of his life and gives his readers some pieces of advice on how to conduct business and to be a politician. Strana provides the most interesting quotes from the book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

«The Crazy Story» is a memoir of unusual person and a bestseller, the electronic version of which was read by over 100,000 people since its publication. The author’s life is full of ups and downs, victories and disappointments, friendship and betrayal, which are described in the book very vividly and emotionally.

This biography does not pretend to be “historic”. It’s just an exciting story about an urchin who grew into one of the most famous businessmen and politicians in Ukraine. What’s more important, it is about the simple and kind people he met during his life, about “earthly angels”, who gave him a helping hand in the most difficult periods of his life.

In the book, you will find the author’s vivid and precise recollections about the meetings and philosophy of Ukraine’s main political figures, as well as a lot of useful advice for those who are ready to walk the path of fame and success against all the odds and look for the answers to the most essential questions that life puts to them: how to find yourself, fully realise your potential, and, of course, to live a worthy life!

The book is ironic and sincere, its main characters being quite ordinary and open people who you often meet on your life’s journey, but sometimes you simply don’t notice how grand they are in their everyday behaviour and kindness.

The book "The Crazy Story" (2017)

Many years I have been haunted by the idea to write a book about my life, complicated and at the same time instructive for thinkers, enriched with many circumstances! This idea has always been on my mind, but there has never been time to stop and summarize, to make it loud and simple! And finally I have time and I am glad that my dream has come true.
