THE BOOK "THE CRAZY STORY"
(2017)

Book description
For many years, I’ve been nursing the idea of writing an autobiographic book: after all, my life has been difficult, instructive for thinking people, and full of different events! I lacked time to stop and sum everything up and sort everything out, but I’ve never given up on it! And now the time has finally come, and I’m glad that my dream has come true!

Selected Quotes

Memories of the best things in your life should not be destroyed by reality! Reader, they should live in your mind in parallel and warm your soul in the most difficult moments!
Reader, only those people are lucky in their life who are worthy of it: those who work hard and have at least minimal ability…
Work, love, bring up your children, and God will determine Himself what happens next, He knows why and what for, no one else knows that!!! Such things happen in life! Reader, do not make any predictions for your life. This is my important advice to you. God works in mysterious ways. It’s true.
That’s why, dear reader, no matter how hard the times are, pay attention to your children, especially when they are 13-18 years old, do not leave them out of sight for a second. There are loads of temptations everywhere, and almost all of them may lead to the loss of your loved one—your own child!
Dreams often come true, but expectations don’t, and never expect from your children the same things you have given to them!!! In most cases, children will never appreciate what you have done for them and will never understand you!
And remember, dear reader! If you need to solve some important problems— turn to those people who can solve them and help you do it, no matter their rank or position…
Once, one friend of mine, who had established himself as a businessman, told me that it’s only difficult to earn your first million; after that, dozens of them rain down on you! And I can only confirm this! And this is the second most valuable advice I want to give you, dear reader! Would you like to start a business? Thoroughly study the matter. Read business publications and use your computer frequently. Your first million is hidden there!
Remember, dear reader, bear it in mind and remind yourself every day: you can’t rest on the laurels of what you have achieved. Only growing constantly and perfecting one’s skills one can stay successful; otherwise, competition will catch up with you very quickly and destroy everything you’ve created!
So good luck to you, dear reader, in your good deeds, and remember: no matter how much you pray, if you don’t supplement your prayer with helping your neighbour, it will never be heard by God! If you do good, not to a relative, but to a stranger, you will be saved forever! All your sins will be forgiven because the good will save the world. We were born and came to this sinful Earth to do good! There is and there will be nothing more important in life than this!

Miroslav

Good afternoon, Leonid Mikhailovich! I’ve read your book A Crazy Story. At first, I did not plan on reading it... there’s so much else to do! But the introduction got me wondering. I'd like to share a few important things, which I made while reading the book: 1. I always thought that you were a “rebel” and a bully at school. You read people like a book and life experience helps you in this. 2. I was fascinated by the sincerity of the book and how easily it reads. Everything is written sincerely, honestly, and non-standard. For example, love of cemeteries... 3. Despite family difficulties, you got the character traits and principles that served you in life and helped you to achieve success; 4. I was once again convinced of the injustice of the communist regime, which despised the Jews. But the Jews were at the front, working for the public good and were full members of society! 5. “When I was a child, my mother cursed at me so much that I had to start lying! I do it very skilfully now!” I was especially impressed by your SINCERITY! No politician admits a lie... 6. In the book, you showed not only your good sides but bad too... You were not afraid to do it! A commendable courage! Only an exceptionally free person can afford it! 7. I was touched by the story of Aunt Galia. It reminded me that we need to have time to say THANK YOU and TO THANK people in our lifetime, as well as appreciate the time. In general, your memory for those, who have departed into a better world, causes respect. 9. I understand little in business. However, your advice on its basic principles is very simple to understand and grasp. 10. You have very engagingly and sincerely described the path of political formation! Politics is more my piece of cake. Therefore, your advice is important to me! Further, I will not comment on your assessment of the presidents and charity! The only thing I can say is that the book is really interesting and instructive! I was once again convinced of your versatility, wisdom, and purposefulness. P. S. Please do not accept this as a fulsome flattery! I would never insincerely write to you!

Nana

Your phrases always help in life, I want to fight when I read them. Thanks for your smart tips, be happy!

Thank you very much, Nana! I am glad that you feel my support! It is very important to me!

Good afternoon! A great book you’ve got here. Thanks for making it happen. It was a pleasure to read. I am still young and have my dreams and aspirations. I’m glad to have begun my life with your bank—you have my infinite gratitude for that. My time in Praveks will always remain as one of the brightest stages of my life. I think that the bank also left a lot of good memories for you—the successful sale of the bank might be one of the brightest too. I could write a lot more, but I won’t. For me, the best is yet to come, and you have already achieved a lot of what you wanted. Thank you! Best regards,

Manana

Good evening, Mr. Leonid, I’ve read your book and liked it very much. Thank you for your sincerity and the help you provide to those in need. I wish you health and good luck in everything you do. Warm regards,

Manana, thank you for your kind words!

Good night! I’ve read a third of your new book in one sitting. It is very interesting and easy to read. It slightly reminds Efraim Sevela, Ilf and Petrov, these life stories are so dramatic. I think that it will be a bestseller, first in Ukraine, and then... and it will be much instructive and useful for life. Congratulations on the discovery of your new talent! XOXO

Thank you!

I did want to give this book a try. However, a huge mistake at the beginning of the book (starting a book with an epilogue? Really?) made me change my mind. Dear Mr. Leonid, the epilogue is at the end, not in the beginning. Unfortunately, your ghostwriter failed to grasp the fundamentals of writing a book — its structure specifically, as in “prologue is at the very beginning of the book and epilogue — at the end”.

Yuri

Hello, Leonid Mikhailovich! I have read your book A Crazy Story and would like to comment on it, to share my impressions, so to say. I see it was indeed you that wrote the book. I am not a literary critic but it's like chalk and cheese as compared to Ukraine is Not Russia by L. D. Kuchma. It has been written from heart ... with all the details told from the first-person perspective, it gives us a possibility to analyse the author's life as he experienced it. I was particularly touched on the raw by the story when a child lost the money his mother had given him to by some food, the thing is that I had a situation like that in my life... The fear to be punished by the mother, not being guilty of what had happened, having no possibility to get, borrow or earn the money ... It seems to be a mini-stress, a feeling of utter helplessness. I was also impressed by that episode with robbers near the bank... A crazy situation indeed. There is a preconceived opinion in our society — the rich are evacuated first in the event of a force major. Just look at that what happened in the film about Titanic — more money meant a lifeboat for you. I have read the book in one breath, “in one sitting”, as they say. The actions due to your gratitude to people are described in a touching manner and without exaggeration, be it your tutor's birthday or arranging for a memorial stone at the cemetery for the woman who has lent 5 hryvnias. Positive emotions, evoked by the book, have convinced me once again that money is not the most important thing in life. The most important thing is our deeds. God watches us and either helps us and makes our life easier, more stable, or on the contrary... Thank you for honesty and openness in your work. I will gladly purchase it and, hopefully, you'll sign it for me one day. Thank you. Yuri, 34 years old, the city of Kyiv.

I sure will! You are a tender and smart person! Good luck!

Ruslan

Dear Leonid, I've finished reading your book. I liked it very much! I've even been reciting several episodes to all my friends. I was deeply moved by the abstract where you had been sealing windows in a hospital so that children would not freeze. Good man! All-in-all, I've liked many things! But I would recommend you to write more broadly and with a twist, just to add some special gloss... I have read about Ford, Bernie Ecclestone, and Lee Kang Yu; you have found your place among these Greats, but you should describe how you have become what you are now in a more interesting manner. I've been engaged in the development and promotion of cycling. Can you help me open a children's bicycle school? If you do not have the money for a couple of bicycles, maybe, you have some good advice on how to do it effectively. You have been doing some good work! Reading your book has been a pleasant experience. Best regards, Ruslan, Ukraine.

Press about the book

The Crazy Story in quotes: “If you are poor, it means it was given to you by God”

The ex-mayor of Kyiv opens up in his book about how he achieved success in business and assures that he’s never cooperated with the authorities or criminals.

Leonid Chernovetsky: it’s only difficult to earn your first million

The former investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office Chernovetsky had already established himself as a big businessman before becoming the mayor of Kyiv. Besides, the sale of his Pravex-bank to Italian group Intesa Sanpaolo for $750 million became one of the most successful deals in the Ukrainian financial sector in the mid-2000s. The Crazy Story was published through Chernovetsky’s personal website in spring.

Leonid Chernovetsky publishes The Crazy Story

The ex-mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetsky, who now lives in Georgia, published a new book The Crazy Story. According to the author, this book is about victories and disappointments, about being betrayed by close people, about poor and neglected childhood. A story about “an ordinary urchin” who became a successful banker and politician.

Chernovetsky’s crazy bestseller

Interestingly, The Crazy Story is not the first opus of Leonid Mykhailovych. Prior to that, he published The Confession of the Mayor in 2008, How to Become a Millionaire and The Story of Success in 2009. The previous books sounded too official, whereas The Crazy Story looks like a confession rather than memoirs with such a title. It seems the ex-mayor of Kyiv wrote the book himself, or with some minimal help, and, no doubt, from the bottom of his heart.

“Never refuse money”. 20 quotes from a new book by Leonid Chernovetsky

The ex-mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetsky published his book The Crazy Story. In the book, he tells the story of his life and gives his readers some pieces of advice on how to conduct business and to be a politician. Strana provides the most interesting quotes from the book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

«The Crazy Story» is a memoir of unusual person and a bestseller, the electronic version of which was read by over 100,000 people since its publication. The author’s life is full of ups and downs, victories and disappointments, friendship and betrayal, which are described in the book very vividly and emotionally.

This biography does not pretend to be “historic”. It’s just an exciting story about an urchin who grew into one of the most famous businessmen and politicians in Ukraine. What’s more important, it is about the simple and kind people he met during his life, about “earthly angels”, who gave him a helping hand in the most difficult periods of his life.

In the book, you will find the author’s vivid and precise recollections about the meetings and philosophy of Ukraine’s main political figures, as well as a lot of useful advice for those who are ready to walk the path of fame and success against all the odds and look for the answers to the most essential questions that life puts to them: how to find yourself, fully realise your potential, and, of course, to live a worthy life!

The book is ironic and sincere, its main characters being quite ordinary and open people who you often meet on your life’s journey, but sometimes you simply don’t notice how grand they are in their everyday behaviour and kindness.

The book "The Crazy Story" (2017)

Many years I have been haunted by the idea to write a book about my life, complicated and at the same time instructive for thinkers, enriched with many circumstances! This idea has always been on my mind, but there has never been time to stop and summarize, to make it loud and simple! And finally I have time and I am glad that my dream has come true.
